Creating & configuring a new Course:
The MSite System allows Sites to create and manage training and credentials of each operatives on a site by site basis. This guide will walk you through how to create, edit and publish online induction material that operatives will are required to complete prior to attending site.

1. Set up and Configuration
MSite allows site users to create new and manage courses that trainees are required to complete before attending site. This section is focused on the creation of a new course and also includes a breakdown of the form.
Firstly you will be required to login to MSite using your MSite user credentials and heading to the Pre Registration Page.
This page will allow you to Add an configure a new course, Below is a sub section and breakdown of the form itself and how each settings can affect a course.
1.1 Course Details
Title – Title of the course that will be seen by operatives and users
Description – A quick description of what the course contains this is viewable by people sitting/editing the course
Course Type – Online Trainings
Permissions
- Manually Awardable – If ticked this will allow the users on site to manually award this accreditation to operatives. This can be used if inductions are also taking place on site and the user isn’t able to complete the online training.
- Editable Only by Training Administrator – By Default this will be ticket as it stops user being able to edit this course
Validity Period – The Number of days the course if valid for after completion (set to 1 year by default)
Allow Resit Period – Number of days Validity someone must have left on this course before they are able to resit
Required – Determines if the course being added is required for access, a message will be displayed if an operative has not completed the course
Restrict Access – If an operative hasn’t completed the Online course this will deny them access to site if there are any access points
Audience
Company Wide – If ticked this will apply the course to the whole of the instance and all sites
Site Specific – Applies to the course to a specific site (used for site by site inductions)
Roles – Select which roles are required to take the course
Assessment Settings
Minimum Pass Score – Determines the minimum score that an operative must hit to pass the course
Must Pass –Enabling this forces trainee’s to meet the minimum pass score before being allowed to proceed to the next course or induction booking. Please note, trainees will be able to scrub and skip previously seen content after their first attempt.
Show Correct Answers – Displays the correct answer when an operative is incorrect
NOTE: Before Adding content (Slides,Videos, Questions Etc) to the course it would be practise to save the course.
2. Adding Content
After the course has been configured and all settings are correct you can now save the course and begin to add content to your course.
There are 3 different types of content that can be added to each course. (Courses are not exclusive to one type of content)
Below is a breakdown of the content that can be added to your course and how to add each one.
2.1. Slides/Videos
Before adding a presentation to MSite please follow the guide in the link below which will show you how to prepare your PowerPoint presentation for MSite.
NOTE: When Presentations to MSite this must be done on a slide by slide basis, this means that you will NOT be able to upload a PowerPoint presentation directly. (Link to article on how to prepare presentation)
To add content to your course head to the "Content" section and click on the "Add Section" button (image below) .
You will then be prompted to Select the type of content you wish to MSite, you can use the drop down to select your option. When selected click on the "Upload" button and navigate to where your content is stored on your computer. One you have your file select it and press the "Add" button (image below).
Videos can also be added to the system, the videos must be in a .MP4 format. The process for adding videos is the same as adding a slide, instead of selecting "Slide" on the Drop down you would Select "Video" (image below). Please ensure that videos are optimized for web use as files can sometimes be unnecessarily large.
2.2. Questions
As well as adding Slides and videos to your Course you can also add multiple choice questions for operatives to answer. This can be done by selecting the "Add Question" button from the "Content" section of your course.
You will then be prompted with a window to enter your question, answers and also to select the correct answer. You can also upload an image to support your question by using the "Upload" button (image below).
You can customise the course in any order you wish to create a course that is unique and specific to your site.
3. Publishing your course
When you have added all your content you can then publish course, this will allow you to start inviting operatives to complete the course. Before Publishing you can Preview the course using the "Save & Preview" button, this will allow you to see the course as the operatives would and should allow you to double check the information with a bit more clarity.
When you're comfortable with the information tick the "Published" box at the bottom the course page (image below).
